RALEIGH, N.C. (July, 2023) – Thanks to a generous donation from the Temple Sloan Family Foundation Wake Tech has awarded its first 2+2 scholarship supporting the full cost of a bachelor’s degree.
Jeanluc Cook, a Collision and Repair and Refinishing Technology Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree graduate, is the recipient of the Temple Sloan Automotive Management Scholarship.
The $36,000 scholarship will cover funds for his associate degree at Wake Tech and an additional two years of study at Northwood University to complete a bachelor’s degree.
In 2022, Wake Tech signed a university transfer agreement with Northwood opening up new options for automotive students to prepare for careers in management. The Northwood classes may take place online, or at the university’s Michigan campus. Students may take classes at the two institutions concurrently.
Northwood is nationally recognized in the automotive industry for both its undergraduate automotive studies and graduate-level automotive management programs. Under the agreement, students who complete an associate degree in Automotive Systems Technology at Wake Tech can now transfer seamlessly to Northwood to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in Automotive Marketing and Management or a Bachelor of Business Administration in Aftermarket Management.
“Receiving this scholarship is a phenomenal experience and I so happy that I am afforded this opportunity,” Cook said. “Having a newborn at home it will definitely help alleviate some of the financial problems every family runs into, and I will do my best to not let anybody down.”
The Temple Sloan Family has enjoyed a longstanding relationship with the college dating back to 2014 when the family established scholarships to benefit 10 to 12 Wake Tech students with financial need each year.
“The new 2+2 program being offered to Wake Tech Automotive and Business graduates will not only be a wonderful opportunity for the students to further their education but will also be an asset to the automotive management industry. Our deep-rooted connection with Northwood University, along with our partnership with Wake Tech naturally led us to support this program and we look forward to hearing many future success stories.” O. Temple Sloan Jr. stated.
